YIKES..... long time, no posts.
Scott and I have been in Mozambique for around 10 months straight, so NO advertising, NO computers, NO internet, NO electricity and MUCH to say!
So, firstly and maybe most importantly, we have moved accommodation... no longer at ZDS, but in a beautiful semi-traditional beachfront property. less electricity, less mod-cons, but more community spirit, more fun and MUCH more comfortable (infinitely cooler, with [most of the time... when it works correctly...] 24 hour hot water for a nice shower in winter).
Secondly, new manager. Nic. English, speaks portuguese-ish, good cook.
Thirdly, new staff. arlinda (kitchen and cleaning) Nick (guardo) Augustu (maintenance and garden) and ORLANDO (general star and translator). soon to be new person working on project. also from england. don't know who they are yet.
Fourthly new four legged additions: Bella (dog) and DORY (wonderful cat)
Bali has moved to south africa, scott and i have moved, for a little while to england to catch up on our work.
The project has also changed beyond total and utter recognition:
- school - around 60 kids max, actually counted 70 in one day. wow. that was a day when i was teaching all by myself
- scholarships to school in inharrime for 2 girls, and a wonderful idea of women's literacy is gradually coming into being
- medical projects..... wow. lots of changes here, lots of community work, lots of dfl work. lots of stories!
- new, huge vegetable garden. to be planted in january
- lots of starry volunteers have come and gone and helped tremendously.
Keep reading.... there will be more and more and more updates on progress from now on! (England = computers and keeping the world informed about MOZVOLUNTEERS!)
