2011 projects

Sports Education Project 2011

We've been very busy here at MozVolunteers, we have developed the plan for the sports project 2011, this will be happening in June 2011. For 4 weeks, volunteers who excel at sport will have the opportunity to work as a group teaching football, cricket and other games to school children at the MozVolunteers community school and the Sihane government school.

We're all looking forward to it.... to apply, contact alex@mozvolunteers.com requesting a sports project application form.

Women's Skills Projects

We have started a new dimension to our women's skills program: crafts, in particular quilt making.

Women from the local villages will have the chance to learn the art of quilt-making, and be given the opportunity to use their traditional fabrics, beads and dyes to make beautiful quilt squares. These are then collected, sent back to us in the UK, where, to begin with at least, we will make them into quilts, wall-hangings and cushion covers, to name but a few items.

These will then be sold, and the money split between the women who have made the squares and their "business" pot, and used for buying equippment for the next lot of squares.

It teaches local women business and craft skills, and provides them with an additonal source of income.

Eventually, we will be able to afford a sewing machine for them, and the whole process will be completed in Mozambique at the MozVolunteers school.

School Build

We have reached our target for our school building, and the construction should commence after the rainy season, in the new year.
